Moving USDT from a South African platform to an international exchange
Many South Africans buy USDT with rand on a local platform and then send it to Binance, OKX, Bybit or Bitget. The network, address, travel-rule details and test transfer to check along the way.
Multiple exchanges | South Africa | ZAR | fees, access and account safety
A common route in South Africa is to buy USDT with rand on a local platform and send it on to an international exchange for trading. The rand side is usually smooth. The transfer step is where most problems happen: a network that the receiving exchange does not support, a missing memo, or a withdrawal held because the sending platform needs details about the recipient. A careful first transfer makes every later one routine.
Match the network on both sides
Open the withdrawal screen on the local platform and see which networks it offers for USDT. Then open the deposit screen on the receiving exchange, select USDT and look for the same network by its full name. Choose one that appears on both lists. Note the withdrawal fee and minimum shown on the sending side at that moment. If no common network exists, do not send USDT that way.
Copy the address from the receiver
After selecting the network on the receiving exchange, copy the deposit address and any memo it shows. Paste them into the local platform's withdrawal form and compare the first and last characters with the receiving screen. Some local platforms require you to save the address in an address book and wait before using it. Plan for that delay instead of trying to rush the first transfer.
Fill in recipient details correctly
Local platforms may ask whether the destination is your own account and which exchange it belongs to before releasing a withdrawal. Answer accurately, selecting the receiving exchange from the list if one is offered. If you are unsure how to answer, check the local platform's help centre. Incorrect or incomplete details can lead to the withdrawal being held or returned, which costs time.
Test, then send the rest
Send a small amount first and wait until it shows as completed in the receiving exchange's deposit history. Then send the remainder with the same network and memo. Keep the transaction ID for each transfer. If a deposit is delayed beyond the confirmations listed on the deposit screen, contact the receiving exchange's support from its app with the network, amount, time and transaction ID.
